Baby's firsts are always special, and that first Easter basket is an opportunity to celebrate spring, new beginnings and that sweet baby of yours. I always have fun shopping for Easter baskets for the boys and put a lot of care and thought into their first Easter baskets (for the toddlers now it's mostly from the Target Dollar Spot, but hey they like it!).
Below are 10 of my favorite items for baby's first Easter Basket.
1. JellyCat Bunny.
Our boys love these soft, adorable stuffed animals. While they are a little more expensive than other stuffed animals, they are so so soft and worth the splurge. Plus they have a variety of sizes and cute fabric patterns so you could make this an annual tradition. You can purchase these locally at Mother and Baby Source here in Davis or online.
2. Easter/Bunny Board Books.
My family is filled with teachers, including my grandmother who was a high school librarian, so reading has always been important to our family. A few of our favorite board books that would make a great addition to the Easter basket include:
- The Runaway Bunny (by the same author as Goodnight Moon and equally addictive and strange);
- Ollie's Easter Eggs;
- Llama Llama Easter Egg, (our toddler loves all the Llama Llama books); and
- basically any Beatrix Potter book, including this Beatrix Potter the Compete Tales (one of my favorites growing up was The Tale of Jeremy Fisher).
3. Percussion Eggs.
My toddler loves music and he loves these egg-shaped percussion shakers. Available in bright spring colors, these are great for practicing rhythm and gross-motor skills.
4. Hide and Squeak Eggs.
Both of our boys love these hide and squeak eggs -- the littler one loves to open and close the container and squeak the eggs while the older toddler likes to crack the eggs while be pretends to cook in his kitchen. They are also great for learning colors, shapes and matching.
5. Bunny Socks or Booties.
Because you can never have too many socks or booties. Since we had a winter baby, we were fans of the soft fleece Zutano booties -- and they also seemed to stay on well, which is a plus.
6. Annie's Cheddar Bunnies.
A fun take on the traditional Goldfish crackers, these are great snacks and we even put these in the Easter eggs for our littler ones for the Easter Egg Hunt (don't worry we also do chocolate!).
7. Personalized Easter Basket.
I love having traditions surrounding the holidays and we love personalizing things so it's no surprise we have monogrammed stockings for Christmas and monogrammed baskets for Easter. Pottery Barn has adorable Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter basket liners and they are currently on sale!
8. Crook + Savvy Bunny Lovey Blanket.
Crook + Savvy hand-makes modern baby blankets featuring limited edition prints. She has the most adorable and softest little loveys with bunny ears that babies love to fondle and suck on. They also have several cozy blankets.
9. Paisley Pandas Bunny Teether.
The Paisley Pandas has the cutest prints for her handmade quilts, blankets and rompers. She also makes matching bandana bibs and teethers.
10. Poppy and Oak Darling Box, or custom mini Easter Box.
Both the Crook + Savvy bunny loveys and The Paisley Pandas bandana/bunny teether sets are available in our Darling Box. We are always happy to create custom mini boxes too!
